International Conference: "The Fifth Okunev's Readings"
(in honour of the 50th Anniversary of department of Theoretical Mechanics and Ballistics of BSTU)
26-29 June 2006, St.-Petersburg, Russia

First Announcement

History of the Conference, General Information

The First Okunev’s Readings had been organized by department of "Theoretical Mechanics and Ballistics" of Baltic State Technical University "VOENMEH", named after D.F.Ustinov, supported by some scientific and industrial organizations and Universities of the country and took place in December, 1997 in commemoration of 100-anniversary of professor B.N.Okunev an outstanding Russian scientist, expert in mechanics, ballistics and history of science.

Having taken into account the great interest shown to the conference from the side of domestic and foreign scientific communities, the organizing Committee has decided to organize the conferences regularly, once in two years, and save the name of "Okunev’s Readings" for them, to transform the "Readings" into international conference and to expand the subjects of its program (together with the scientific problems, methodical questions of education, especially teaching new information technologies now have to be discussed) and to memorize the major events and anniversaries in a history of mechanics.

Participation of authorities from different fields of mechanics, exchange of ideas and scientific results, erudition in the history of development of science and scientific activity of outstanding Russian and foreign scientists history will promote the development of mechanics, popularization of its achievements, improvement of professional skill of young scientists and teachers, postgraduates and students. Favorable terms are fixed for the latter. It was marked a high level of quotation of previous (I-IV) conferences’ papers at reading theses for a doctor's degree and in published scientific papers.
